Ueda-ryū Shakuhachi-dō

Ueda-ryū Shakuhachi-dō is a shakuhachi school found by Ueda Hōdō and since continuing its tradition for four generations. The central Ueda-ryū repertoire consists of compositions and arrangements by the founder, as well as a large amount of Japanese traditional ensemble music.

Yasunori Tani

Yasunori Tani is a shakuhachi grand master and head instructor of Ueda-ryu. He studied under his father Tani Senzan II, and learned kinko-ryu shakuhachi under Kobayashi Ichijo and Aoki Reibo II, as well as koten honkyoku, centered around Kaido Dokyoku under Toshimitsu Ishikawa. He has been awarded various prestigious prices in competitions such as The Kumamoto National Hogaku Competition.

Aaro Haavisto (Senzui)

Aaro Haavisto taught and performed music with various instruments for 13 years. He is a licensed Ueda-ryu teacher under the instruction of Yasunori Tani and actively teaches both online and onsite students in Finland and on workshops around the globe, and is the chairman of the Finnish Shakuhachi Society.
